DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) Deputies with the Darlington County Sheriff's Office have arrested a suspect in the alleged armed robbery of a Family Dollar in Darlington in early February.
Officers responded to the Family Dollar on Highway 52 in Darlington around 8 a.m. on Feb. 1 where a suspect reportedly entered the store with a handgun demanding money from the employees, said Captain Andy Locklair, spokesperson for the Darlington County Sheriff's Office.
That suspect then fled in the direction of West McIver Road with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect was described as a black male, standing six feet tall and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds, with a thin moustache, Locklair said. The suspect was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket and dark pants.
Locklair added that a bloodhound tracking team from the Sheriff's Office searched the area for the suspect, but did not turn up any leads.
After the search of a home on Tiffany Lane on Darlington, 19-year-old Markquell Moore was arrested and charged with armed robbery, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and kidnapping in connection with this armed robbery. Moore remains in custody at the Darlington County Jail awaiting a bond hearing.
