MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - At first glance, Caleb Duggan doesn't appear to be one of the area's best basketball players
"You normally want to look for the bigger kids or stronger kids, but when you look at me you don't see a great player," said Duggan.
Looks can certainly be deceiving, the shaggy haired junior is averaging over 21 points a game this year for St. James, and has the boys off to their best region start in school history.
"We work really hard and practice has been rough, but it's paid off in the games and region has been great, we're playing well and I'm excited to keep the region play going," said Caleb.
Duggan has used a gritty determination to take on some of the bigger and stronger players around the area. That dedication is something his head coach Monty Carr has seen in him for quite some time.
"I remember as a college kid coming back from Coker College and seeing him with his dad sitting in the gym and he would just be dribbling," Carr continued, "His passion allows him to improve and get better."
With numbers like Caleb has been putting up to start this year colleges will certainly come knocking on his door.
"As of right now I'm just worried about high school, and I'll see where I get going into my senior year if I get letter and see who is recruiting me."
