DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A collision along a Dillon County road has claimed the life of one driver Saturday afternoon.
Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said the collision occurred along Highway 41 near Lake View around 3 p.m.
A 1998 Chevrolet full sized pickup truck traveling north along Highway 41 went left of center and struck a 2001 Chevrolet small pickup truck, Collins said.
The driver of the 2001 Chevrolet was killed in the collision. Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley identified that driver as 59-year-old Nelson Grissett of Fairmont, NC.
The driver of the 1998 Chevrolet was transported to McLeod for injuries. Collins added that a child was properly restrained in the vehicle and was unharmed.
Units are still investigating the collision and whether or not seatbelts were worn by both drivers.
