FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) One Pee Dee boy battling sickle cell
disease received a big surprise Thursday when he was able to see a monster
truck up close and personal.
Six-year-old Ka'Savion's wish has been to see some monster
trucks and Make-A-Wish helped make it happen Thursday morning with a special
visit from Darren Schnell and Bigfoot, a 10-foot-tall, 10,000 pound monster
truck.
Schnell will be driving Bigfoot Friday and Saturday night in
the Monster Truck Winter Nationals at the Florence Civic Center.
Schnell met Ka'Savion and his family at Chuck E Cheese on David
H. McLeod Boulevard in Florence, and Ka'Savion was able to see Bigfoot up close
and personal. He even had a chance to sit in the driver's seat.
His big smile was hard to miss.
"When I was sick, I didn't get to see [anything] like this,
so this is good for him to see entertainment like this now, while he's still
young," Ka'Savion's mom Lakesha Floyd said.
"Driving the truck is a thrill of a lifetime, something I
always dreamed of, but the best part is interacting with the kids and
especially being a part of this Make-A-Wish visit is more rewarding than
winning the races," Schnell added.
Ka'Savion will also get the VIP treatment at the Monster
Truck Winter Nationals this weekend, arriving in style in a limousine.
