Driver arrested for DUI following fatal collision on Hwy 90

LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) A 21-year-old man has been charged with two counts of felony DUI after the car he was driving flipped into a ditch, killing a passenger Saturday night.

Brent Kelly with the South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed to WMBF News that Ryan Douglass Roszel of North Myrtle Beach is now facing a charge of felony DUI with great bodily injury and another charge of felony DUI resulting in death.

Roszel was allegedly the driver of a 1997 Honda that crashed in the area of Highway 90 near Carriage Lake Drive and SC-31 around 10 p.m.

According to the SCHP, the vehicle flipped into a ditch, trapping one person and throwing two others out of the vehicle.

Tony Hendrick with the Horry County Coroner's Office has identified the victim killed as 34-year-old Gail Lynch of Little River.

Roszel and another passenger were transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Online booking records with the J. Reuben Long Detention Center show Roszel was booked around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening.

Bond has not yet been set.
