CCU Men Cruise Past Presbyterian, 81-63

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) - The Coastal Carolina Chanticleer men's basketball squad picked up its third straight win on Saturday afternoon, cruising by the Presbyterian Blue Hose, 81-63. It marks the first double digit victory by the Chants in almost a month.

Cliff Ellis' team jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, as the Chants opened up a 23-6 lead, and forced 18 turnovers.

Chris Gradnigo led all scorers with 18 points, as four Chanticleers finished in double figures. Danny Nieman shot a perfect 6-6 from the field (4-4 on 3-pt FG) and finished with a season high 16 points.

The Blue Hose cut the lead to seven in the second half, but Coastal was able to pull away to improve to 6-1 in Big South play.

The win serves as a bit of a tuneup for the Chants before a showdown with first place UNC-Asheville looms on the road on Tuesday. The Chants are now 13-4 on the season, and second in conference behind Asheville (12-6, 7-0 in Big South).
