Accident turns deadly in Surfside Beach - WMBFNews.com, Myrtle Beach/Florence SC, Weather

Victim identified in deadly Surfside Beach accident

SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are working to learn how a pedestrian was struck and killed along US-17 Business in Surfside Beach early Saturday morning.

A spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol said the accident occurred around 12:15 a.m. in the 1700-block of US 17 Business. Scene investigators spent the night on site trying to piece together the accident.

According to the Horry County Coroner's Office the victim was 50-year-old James Monroe Johnson of Surfside Beach. The cause of death was multiple trauma.

Right now, officials aren't commenting on what may have caused this  accident.
