Florence cleaners robbed at gunpoint

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) The Florence Police Department is searching for a man officers say robbed a business at gunpoint Wednesday evening.

Major Carlos Raines, spokesman for the Florence Police Department, told WMBF News that an unknown white male approached an employee at the Palmetto Cleaners, located on West Palmetto Street around 5:30 p.m., asking to use the phone.

When the employee said the phone wasn't working, the suspect reportedly pointed a gun in her direction and asked for her purse and money.

The suspect was able to get away with money from the register after the employee told him she didn't have her purse with her. The suspect told her to go to the back of the business, where she waited until he fled the scene.

The suspect has been described as a slender white male of medium complexion, standing at about 5'10" with braids to his shoulders. He was wearing a black hoodie at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information should contact the Florence Police Department. No one was injured in the robbery.
