MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Myrtle Beach Police are investigating an early morning shooting at a hotel off of Ocean Blvd. where a male victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds.

Officers say a man was found in the parking lot of Holiday South located at 2605 South Ocean Boulevard with gunshot wounds in the leg and buttocks.

Officials say although the victim was found in the parking lot of the motel, they're still investigating if that's where the shooting actually took place.

Neighbors say a group of men started shooting in a hotel hallway on the second floor and that incident spilled out into the parking lot.

Myrtle Beach Police are canvassing for several suspects, possibly three or four individuals who fled on foot.

According to the police reporter obtained by WMBF News the victim described the suspects as black men wearing puffy jackets. No further description was available.

The victim was transported to the hospital, but there is no word on his condition.

Neighbors say this isn't the first time the hotel's had trouble. A man who didn't want to be identified spoke to WMBF News about hearing the gunshots.

"It sounded like they were beating on aluminum or something like a kettle drum. Just a few seconds later I heard six consecutive shots," he said.

Connie Carpenter, who used to live and work at the hotel and now lives across the street says the violence is too close for comfort.

"I have grandchildren. I have one that lives with me and that's one of the reasons I got out of there. Nobody needs to be there with kids," said Carpenter.
