MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Socastee's Travis Frye is the definition of a gym rat. He's most comfortable when there's a basketball in his hands
"I love every minute of it, any time I have to miss or any time that I'm sick I hate it, it's the worst feeling in the world. I love the game, I always will," said Frye.
Frye has developed into a stand out on this year's Braves squad on the court, leading the team in scoring and assists this season.
"He needs to touch the ball as many times as possible on every possession," said Socastee head coach Tommy Johnson, "Not only is he our leading scores, he's one of our leading rebounders, and he is our leading assist guy, which is unusual for the scorer to also be the assist guy."
Leadership has also come natural for the senior, whether it be vocal or through his actions. Travis has taken it upon himself to become the go to guy on and off the court
"I try to be the hardest worker out here in practice. Just to work as hard as anybody or even harder so they can know that even the best player can work even harder than them," said Frye.
With the solid start to his senior season, Frye is beginning to think about continuing his basketball career on the next level.
"I would love to play at a Division I level, if not at Division II, I'm definitely planning on playing on the next level in college basketball."
But before Travis thinks too much about college, he's focused on leading his Socastee team on a successful region run.
"This year I feel that our team is just an actual team and I feel that we can put them on the map, we can make a great run."
