Body found in river flowing through Biltmore

ASHEVILLE, NC (AP) An autopsy has been scheduled for a man whose body was found in a part of the French Broad River that runs through the Biltmore Estate in Asheville.

Authorities said hunters found 51-year-old Spalding McIntosh III along the bank of the river around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

Police Lt. Randy Sorrells told the Asheville Citizen-Times that police got a call Tuesday about a man matching McIntosh's description with one leg over a Blue Ridge Parkway bridge over the river.

Sorrells says a cab driver who knew McIntosh confirmed he drove him to a place near the bridge Tuesday.
