CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NC (WECT) An Amber Alert for a missing two-year-old girl has been canceled. Juliana Reyes was found in Newport News, Virginia.

Homicide detectives are searching for the girl's father, Alexander Velaya, who is wanted in connection with the death of his girlfriend and the kidnapping of the child.

Velaya, 23, allegedly shot Marianna Latisha Reyes, 22. Her body was found in the roadway near her home on Waco Road in Fayetteville with multiple gunshot wounds shortly after midnight Tuesday.

The incident was reported by a neighbor who heard shooting in the area and called deputies.  Authorities say Velaya later left in his own car.

Juliana was found in Newport News at a Food Lion. Officials say Velaya dropped her off there.

Velaya is wanted on first degree murder charges.  Anyone who has information regarding this investigation should call the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office at 910-323-1500.
