FCSO: Teen grabbed cash from victim's pocket

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) A 14-year-old boy is being held at the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice after Florence officers say he grabbed $60 out of a man's pocket Tuesday night.

Major Carlos Raines, spokesman for the Florence Police Department, said the victim was walking along Oakland Avenue just after 9 p.m. when a 14-year-old suspect approached him with a gun and demanded money.

When the victim said he didn't have any, the teen then put his hand in the victim's pocket and grabbed about $60 in cash before fleeing.

Officers were able to locate the teen and have charged him with strong armed robbery.

He was then taken to the SCDOJ, where he remains at this time.
