Victim ID'd in Spivey Avenue killing

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Myrtle Beach Police are investigating a shooting along Spivey Avenue Sunday afternoon that left one man with life-threatening injuries lying unconscious on the street.

Officers responded to Spivey Avenue in Myrtle Beach Sunday afternoon where a male was found lying unconscious on the sidewalk. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment where he later died of his injuries, Vincent Dorio with Myrtle Beach Police confirmed to WMBF News.

Tamara Williard with the Horry County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as 29-year-old Michael Brown of Myrtle Beach.

Officers were initially unsure of the cause of Brown's injuries, but Dorio says that the victim suffered from a gunshot wound to the chest area.

Myrtle Beach Police have not yet named a suspect and are now investigating this incident as a homicide. Anyone with information should contact Myrtle Beach Police as soon as possible.
