MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) We can all agree that Coach David Bennett is an awesome guy. And he's been a great ambassador for Coastal Carolina. But great guy or not, the school has decided to bring in a fresh perspective to lead its football program.
Consider This:
David Bennett chose coaching as his career and he knows the way the system works. It's common to see the football coaching carousel spin each year, but since this is CCU's first time on the merry-go-round, many feel betrayed. However, be forewarned, it will happen again. College athletics is a business, and colleges expect to get a return on that investment.
CCU will announce a new head coach soon and come fall 2012 the stands at Coastal's Brooks Stadium will be filled with fans that support the team. It is the natural evolution of the game.
Coach Bennett, we'll miss your funny anecdotes; but at least we've got a few saved if we ever need a good laugh. Thank you for all of that you have done for CCU and this entire community. Best wishes and Godspeed to you and your family.
