HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A 37-year-old man is behind bars after allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and blaming it on his medication in early December.
According to a police report obtained by WMBF News, the 14-year-old victim reported to a teacher at St. James High School on Thursday that she had been sexually assaulted by Heith Michael Johnson, of Myrtle Beach.
A guidance counselor at the school then informed Horry County Police about the incident.
The victim told police she and Johnson had gone into her room on Dec. 2, where she had fallen asleep. When she woke up around 1 a.m., she said found her pants were around her knees and Johnson was behind her with his genitals exposed and between her legs.
She said Johnson pulled up the victim's pants and whispered in her ear that he was sorry for waking her up. At that time, she said he sat on the floor and began shaking, telling her he had blacked out because of the medication he was taking.
According to the victim, she then went to her older sister's room and told her what happened and also tried to tell a teacher, which she reportedly was unable to do until Thursday.
After further investigation, Horry County officers arrested Johnson Friday and charged him with committing or attempting a lewd act upon a child under 16.
