Detention Center: Home detention escapee turned self in

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) A suspect on home detention who escaped back in December after removing his ankle strap has turned himself in, according J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

The suspect, 34-year-old, Kashief N. Spain was placed on home detention after he posted bond on Nov 16.

Spain was arrested on Nov. 14 and charged with unlawful sale or delivery of pistol to, and possession by, certain persons, possession of firearms & ammunition, manufacturing/PO: SCH. I,II,III, failure to stop for blue light and driving under suspension.

Spain's surety bond was set at $45,000, under the condition that he be placed on electronic monitoring.

Spain removed his ankle bracelet on Dec. 3, which was located in the area of Highway 31 and Highway 9.

The J. Reuben Long Detention Center then asked for the assistance of the public in locating Spain, who was considered dangerous.

According to Tom Fox with the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, Spain turned himself in around 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

He has now been charged with malicious damage to personal property, two counts of failure to appear and one count of escape, booking records indicated.
