CHARLESTON, SC (WMBF) The carjacking suspect that lead authorities on a chase into Georgetown County before crashing his second stolen car was denied bond on Saturday.

The suspect, 27-yr-old Lonnie Lamar Hazelton, has been charged with carjacking, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife/firearm during a violent crime, according to booking records.

The initial carjacking victim, reported to Charleston County deputies that Hazelton pulled up beside his car and fired several shots, before pulling in front of the victim's vehicle and ordering him out of his car in McClennanville Friday night.

The suspect began driving the victim's car to the end of Pinckney Street, and drove back down that street passing deputies that had responded to the carjacking report.

As deputies attempted to stop him, Hazelton accelerated, attempting to run over the deputy while firing shots at the victim and other officers.

Fires were fired by officers, but Hazelton continued on Highway 17 into Georgetown County, where Hamilton later crashed and was detained by deputies with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

Hazelton alleged stole the first vehicle he was driving in Berkeley County earlier Friday before he entered Charleston County.

The State Law Enforcement Division will investigate this incident, at the request of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.

A bond hearing for Hazelton was held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, and bond was denied.
