CONWAY, SC (WMBF)- Ronnie Pertelle tells WMBF News his family is finally beginning to feel a sense of closure after Horry County Police arrested the man they say murdered his daughter, 19-year-old Shaquille "Kia" Pertelle.
Pertelle says he's happy police made a break in the investigation, but he wants the public's help to bring other possible suspects to justice. Horry County Police say more arrests are likely.
"I wish this on nobody. It's been tough, and I wish that people in the street that knows about this would come forward," said Pertelle.
Police arrested and charged 21-year-old Keir Johnson of Myrtle Beach in Pertelle's November 8 murder Thursday. Horry County online records show Johnson was in jail on unrelated charges hours after he's suspected of killing Pertelle. He bonded out two days later.
Johnson is still facing armed robbery and weapons charges stemming from an incident in October 2009.
Pertelle says knowing justice is on its way will help him move on, but it's going to be a gradual and heart-wrenching process.
"I was looking forward to her burying me, but as a parent burying a kid if no one ever went through this they don't know," Pertelle said.
