Malfunctioning transformer causes power outages across MB

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) Much of Myrtle Beach has been left in the dark after a power outage  thanks got a malfunctioning transformer Tuesday afternoon.

Mark Kruea, spokesman for the City of Myrtle Beach, said power went out around the city following a transformer malfunctioning at the corner of 21st Avenue North and Robert Grissom Parkway.

Several traffic lights in the area were out as a result, including the light at Mister Joe White Avenue and Oak Street.

Units with the Myrtle Beach Fire Department are on scene of the malfunctioning transformer.

Mollie Gore, spokesperson for Santee Cooper, tells WMBF News that power in Myrtle Beach was out for approximately 25 minutes.
