COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Visitors to South Carolina are getting a chance to help keep the Palmetto State clean during stops at the state's nine welcome centers.
The South Carolina Welcomes You to Recycle program kicked off Tuesday at the York County Welcome Center on Interstate 77.
New containers offer visitors an opportunity to recycle cans, bottles and newspapers while they're on the go.
Officials say all 9 of the state's welcome centers will participate once the program is fully implemented.
State transportation officials say more than 2 million people visit South Carolina's welcome centers each year.
