BCSO drug agents find 42 marijuana plants in home

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man on several drug charges after deputies responded to a domestic incident at his home Wednesday afternoon.

Del Routh, spokesman for the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded to a home along Bell Swamp Road in the Winnabow area around 3:40 p.m. in reference to a domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, they observed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the home. Once questioned, Ronald Thomas Sessions, 30, allegedly turned over an amount of marijuana.

At that time, according to Routh, deputies notified the Drug Enforcement Unit at BCSO.

After obtaining a search warrant, agents recovered 42 marijuana plants and other paraphernalia consistent with growing marijuana. They also found several types of pills such as Methadone, Alprazolam and Adderall.

Sessions was then arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession with the intent to manufacture, sell and deliver marijuana
  • Manufacture of schedule IV controlled substance
  • Possess drug paraphernalia
  • Maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place with a controlled substance
  • Simple possession of schedule II controlled substance
  • Simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance

He is being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center on a $250,000 secure bond.
