JACKSONVILLE, NC (AP) A judge has refused a request to release from jail a North Carolina mother who's accused of starving five children.
The Daily News of Jacksonville reported (http://bit.ly/mSYLga) that District Court Judge Sarah Seaton denied the request Monday from an attorney for 28-year-old Janet Lynn Anderson of Hubert. Seaton denied the request to release Anderson until her trial because she has a job opportunity.
The judge did lower Anderson's bond to $150,000 from $346,000.
Anderson is being held in the Onslow County Jail on multiple counts of child abuse. Also charged in the case is her husband, 25-year-old Larry W. Anderson.
The children range in age from 6 years to 18 months. Four are Janet Anderson's children; the fifth is her husband's child from a previous relationship.
