FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a late night collision involving a pedestrian on North Cashua Drive and Sumter Street Saturday that claimed a life.
According to Bob Beres with the SCHP, the pedestrian was attempting to cross North Cashua Dr. while wearing dark clothing around 8:25 p.m. The vehicle, a Chevrolet SUV, was driven by a Florence woman, who did not suffer any injuries.
Deputy Coroner Don Reynolds identified the pedestrian as 54-year-old Larry Dean Morris of Florence.
Morris was taken to McLeod Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. Coroner Bubba Matthews said the collision is being ruled as an accident at this time.
