Suspect identified in Brunswick Co. fatal shooting

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office searching for the man reportedly responsible for the murder of an Ash man Sunday afternoon.

Sgt. April Stanley, spokeswoman for the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, said the victim was fatally wounded on Carlon Road just before noon Sunday.

Monday afternoon, the victim was identified as Sherman Aundo Daniels, 54, of Ash, NC.

Tuesday afternoon BCSO spokesperson Del Routh said deputies had identified Alfred Lamond Butler, 36, as the suspect wanted in connection to the murder of Daniels and warrants have been issued for his arrest on the following charges:

  • murder
  • possession of a firearm by a felon
  • discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling

Bulter is also known as Hakeem Ahmad Muhammad or "Peanut" and is described as a black male with dark facial hair standing 5'7" and weighing around 200 pounds.

Routh added that Butler could be in the Horry County area and a $500 reward is being offered for information leading to his whereabouts.

Further details surrounding the shooting have not been released at this time by officials. WMBF News will provide those details as they become available.
