GEORGETOWN COUNTY, SC (WMBF) A high speed chase has landed a 32-year-old Georgetown County man behind bars Wednesday morning.

Carrie Cuthbertson, spokeswoman for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, said a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling well over 80 miles per hour along Highmarket Street around 11 a.m.

When the vehicle, driven by John Grover Frasier, did not stop, the deputy was led on a chase through the McDonald and Greentown communities, according to Cuthbertson.

At some point, Frasier stopped the vehicle, but refused to comply with the deputy's orders, said Cuthbertson, resulting in a struggle with Frasier before he was arrested.

Frasier has been charged with failure to stop for a blue light, disregarding a stop sign, driving under suspension, speeding over 25 miles per hour, hindering and obstructing police, reckless driving and habitual offender.

He is currently incarcerated at the Georgetown County Detention  Center.
