SBI arrests Lumberton officer on drug charges

LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) A suspended Lumberton police officer has been arrested on several drug charges, according to the State Bureau of Investigation.

Officials said Matthew Albert Moore was arrested Monday and charged with two counts of embezzlement of property received by virtue of office or employment, two counts of trafficking scheduled II controlled substance by possession and obtaining controlled substance by fraud.

Bond was then set at $8,000 and Moore was released from jail.

James Moore, the Human Resources Director for the City of Lumberton, said Miller was hired as an officer with the City of Lumberton on July 29, 2009 and is currently on suspension without pay.
