Alex Holley is a native Texas girl. She's excited to show her southern hospitality through her stories as you wake up and get ready for work in the mornings. Alex Holley joins the WMBF News TODAY news team from KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri where she was an anchor, reporter, and producer. She's also happy to be trading the flatlands of Texas and the snow storms of Missouri for the palm trees and white sandy beaches of Myrtle Beach! Alex loves to explore new places and activities -especially along the Grand Strand- to find out what they have to offer. She's learning the area more and more with every story she covers.
Alex also worked as an anchor for an innovative multi-source news, sports and entertainment website called Newsy.com, enthusiastically delivering an innovative style of reporting news. On Newsy.com, fast-paced viewers could use their ipads, blackberrys and other interactive mobile devices to access Alex delivering the news "up close and personal." Today, you can even see Alex in a digital journalism display on the third floor of the Newseum in Washington, D.C. on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Alex is very proud to be a University of Missouri (MIZZOU) Tiger, where she graduated from the first, and one of the best, journalism schools in the nation. She has a double minor -- Sociology and Spanish. While at the University, Alex was an active, involved leader in the student government, creating an award-winning community service program for students called "SWIPES Make a Difference." She also served in a leadership role with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In 2010, she was voted the University of Missouri's Homecoming Queen and in 2011 was selected as one of the Mizzou '39, one of the top honors given to seniors for their contributions to the University.
One of Alex's favorite hobbies is travel…she is a world traveler. Since birth, she has explored over eleven different countries. She is proficient in Spanish, having studied at the Universidad de Salamanca at age 13. This global exposure helps add a versatile dimension to her stories. Consistently, Alex follows international trends and loves to explore new places, researching the unique experiences they have to offer. She is a vivacious, unique reporter who uses her knowledge of different places to enhance the perspectives to her stories.
