Coroner identifies two killed in Darlington Co. crash

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Darlington County Coroner's Office continue to investigate a fatal crash that claimed the lives of two young men Monday night.

Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, said the accident occurred along Lawson Road in Darlington County around 7:50 p.m. when a 2002 Crown Victoria traveling eastbound ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver and one passenger were killed in the collision and a third was taken to McLeod Hospital with injuries. The extent of those injuries is unknown at this time.

Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee has identified the driver as 18-year-old Orlando Edwards and the deceased passenger as 21-year-old Dominique Coleman. Both were from Darlington County.

Collins said Edwards and Coleman were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The incident remains under investigation by both the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Darlington County Coroner's Office.
