Sean Maginnis

Anchor & Video Journalist ι smaginnis@wmbfnews.com

Sean knew from a young age he wanted to work in local news. He grew up in the Seattle area idolizing hometown anchors like Steve Raible and Kathi Goertzen, and said to himself one day "I want to do THAT for a living!".  Sean now reports for the 6 and 11 PM news Monday through Friday, and even anchors the show from time to time.

Sean Joins the WMBF News Team from Acadiana's News Leader, KLFY TV-10 in Lafayette, LA where he worked as a general assignment reporter.

A proud graduate of Washington State University (GO COUGS!) with a B.A. in Communication(specializing in Broadcast News and Broadcast Production), Sean worked as an anchor, reporter, producer and director for Cable 8, WSU's student-run television station. He also produced, directed and reported for "Inside the Lines," WSU's only sports newscast devoted to Cougar Athletics. Before moving to Lafayette, Sean interned at Comcast SportsNet in Seattle, where he had a weekly on-air sports commentary segment and also worked as a fill-in host.

The budding broadcaster loves anchoring and producing on the weekends where he can bring his unique energy and enthusiasm for story telling into viewers' living rooms. Working weekends, Sean strives to provide Grand Strand and Pee Dee viewers with the information they need to get through the start of their work week.

One of Sean's most memorable assignments was riding along in a Black Hawk helicopter as Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal surveyed impending flood waters from the Mississippi River in the summer of 2011.
