Investigators: Pastor raped woman in trailer on church grounds

Posted: Updated:
DORCHESTER COUNTY, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators said Wednesday that a 46-year-old Ladson pastor charged with kidnapping and sexual assault, raped one of the female victims in a trailer located on the grounds of his own church.

Dale Richardson was in court Wednesday to face a rape charge stemming from a July 27 incident. He is accused of kidnapping three women and sexually assaulting one of them. He was denied bond for rape Wednesday.

An hour after Richardson's bond hearing Wednesday, a church member at Freedom Free Will Baptist Church, was outside working on the front marquee. He was scraping Richardson's name from it. The man said Richardson is no longer the church's pastor.

According to court papers, Richardson forced the victim to perform oral sex and then raped her. Dorchester County investigators say more charges are pending against the pastor. The victim identified Richardson from online pictures.

The rape charge stems from an incident where a 20-year-old woman was walking down Midland Park Road last month. The victim told police that Richardson pulled up in a truck and said he knew her and would give her a ride.

When the victim got in the truck, the suspect told her, "You are not getting out," according to police. The victim says that the suspect then tied her hands with red construction tape and put a pillow case over her head. The suspect then drove to a residence in Dorchester County where he allegedly sexually assaulted the woman, according to the affidavit.

Last week, Richardson was denied bond for first-degree-assault and kidnapping for an incident that happened in Summerville. A Summerville police incident report states that Richardson picked up a woman on June 21, drove her to a dirt road near The Lakes of Summerville subdivision and propositioned her for sex at gunpoint.
