HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The Horry County Police Department is investigating after receiving a complaint about an unknown person using a victim's identity on an online dating service.

According to a report, officers responded to an address along Lake Park Drive in the Myrtle Beach section of Horry County in reference to a suspicious activity complaint. Upon arrival, officers were met by the 58-year-old victim, who informed them of an unknown person using his name, address and phone number on the dating site.

The victim said he had been receiving many phone calls from unknown women looking for him, but he doesn't know who they are.

He told police he began researching the activity on a popular search engine and found the suspect using his identity "soliciting business to females all over the United States."

According to the victim, the suspect is attempting to have numerous women meet him in various places across the Myrtle Beach area.

Anyone using an online dating service should always be wary when it comes to meeting others outside of the internet.
