MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A manatee sighting off the coast of Myrtle Beach has generated a bit of buzz among beach-goers Wednesday afternoon.

Capt. David Knipes, spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Police Department, said the manatee was first spotted off shore near the SkyWheel around 2 p.m.

Sgt. Phillip Cain with Beach Patrol said the manatee was spotted again around 2:40 p.m. near 15th Avenue South.

The manatee appears to be moving south in its travels.

WMBF News has a crew out, hoping to capture the manatee on video. We'll be sure to update as soon as possible.
