CONWAY, SC - HTC, in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Conway and media partner, Waccamaw Publishers, is once again distributing FREE school supplies for the 12th Annual Back to School FREE School Supplies Event.

On Wednesday, August 17, HTC and Kiwanis Club of Conway members will distribute FREE school supplies beginning at 8:00 a.m. at each HTC branch office and at 10:00 a.m. at the HTC store located inside the Food Court at Coastal Grand Mall.

"The Kiwanis Club of Conway is extremely excited about the partnership with HTC to help fund and distribute free school supplies to those in need in our community.  We are looking forward to participating in this project again and serving the children of our area.  Our ‘Tools for Schools' FREE School Supplies Program is a perfect fit in fulfilling the Kiwanis mission of ‘serving the children of the world'.  We hope people will take advantage of this opportunity to receive the school supplies they need to prepare for the start of the new school year," said George Olive, President of the Kiwanis Club of Conway.

"Waccamaw Publishers is thrilled to be a part of the distribution of free school supplies to those that desperately need help to get ready for school this year," said Tom Brown, Advertising Director for Waccamaw Publishers.  "Through our newspaper outlets serving this area, we hope to reach all of our readers and other Horry County residents with the message that many children in our community need the support of local businesses and civic organizations, such as HTC and the Kiwanis Club, to help them move ahead with their education.  Our support of this program confirms the fact that Waccamaw Publishers is a community-minded business, and we hope the program will continue with another successful year!"

According to Nicole Hyman, HTC Senior Marketing Coordinator, "Back to school time can be very stressful for some parents when it comes to the cost of school supplies, so this is one way we can help lighten the load."  "Every child deserves to report to their first day of school equipped with the necessary tools to learn and be successful.  We are extremely excited about this event and with the help of the Kiwanis Club of Conway expect to hand out over 2,000 bags of supplies for children in grades K-12.  The Back to School FREE School Supplies Program has become an annual event residents in the HTC service area greatly anticipate and depend on to provide essential school supplies to their children," said Hyman.

Each HTC office will have bags packaged with pencils, rulers, erasers, pencil bags, notebooks and more. Supplies are limited and will be issued on a first come, first serve basis.  HTC has nine convenient locations throughout Horry County: Carolina Forest, Coastal Grand Mall, Conway, Loris, Little River, Murrells Inlet, Myrtle Beach and Towne Centre.   Please note that bags will not be distributed at the Socastee location this year due to construction.

For nearly 60 years, HTC has been giving back to the community through various projects within the public and private school systems.  For more information about the Back to School FREE School Supplies Program or for directions to any HTC office, please call Nicole Hyman, HTC Senior Marketing Coordinator, at 369-8498 or visit
