MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A juvenile girl arrested in connection to an alleged hit and run involving a pedestrian on June 30 is now being charged as an adult, according to officials.

Capt. David Knipes, spokesman for the Myrtle Beach Police Department, said officers responded to the Sea Mist Resort parking lot located at 11th Avenue South and Yaupon Drive in reference to a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle shortly before 1 p.m. on June 30.

Upon arrival, according to a police report, officers found a 33-year-old injured male victim lying on the ground.

Knipes said further investigation showed the victim was allegedly intentionally struck and was ejected into the roadway by a white Pontiac Grand Am, driven by a juvenile girl. She allegedly fled the scene.

Knipes said the victim suffered multiple serious injuries and was listed in stable condition at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center on July 1.

The report stated the victim became somewhat violent with officials and EMS, on scene and at the hospital, and was sedated in order to be cared for.

A warrant was then obtained for the juvenile, who was arrested July 1 with the assistance of the Horry County Police Department.

She was then charged with attempted murder.

Wednesday, on her 17th birthday, Courtney Nicole Hunt was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on the attempted murder charge and is now considered an adult.
