DILLON, SC (WMBF) – The remains found in the car of missing Dillon woman Georgia Bethea Billings have been identified.

The car of the missing Dillon woman was found last week. Dillon Assistant Police Chief Bobby McClean said the vehicle was found around 2PM last Friday afternoon off Bowling Green Loop near State Highway 34.

Human remains were found in the vehicle, but could not be immediately identified as Billings.  The remains were sent for an autopsy.

On Tuesday, Aug 17, Dillon County Coroner, Donnie Grimsley said the remains found have been identified through dental records as Georgia Bethea Billings. The cause of death is still being investigated.

According to a police report, 66-year-old Georgia Bethea Billings was last seen June 26 around 11 a.m. Her brother-in-law told police he checked a hospital because Billings has previously been released, and the hospital staff informed him they hadn't seen her.
