Burglary suspect arrested at friend's home in Latta

LATTA, SC (WMBF) - A manhunt launched by the Dillon County Sheriff's Office Wednesday has ended with the suspect believed to have broken into several homes in Latta in custody Thursday morning.

According to Captain Cliff Arnette with the DCSO, 19-year-old John Andrews, of Robeson County, NC broke into two homes on Cattlefarm Road before fleeing on foot into the woods.

A manhunt began just before noon on Wednesday. Arnette said Thursday afternoon Andrews was located at a friend's home in Latta and was arrested around 2:15 a.m.

He did not have a weapon on him at the time of his arrest, however, Arnette said Andrews was armed with a handgun during the burglaries.

Andrews has been charged with burglary, according to Arnette. Additional charges are pending at this time.

Additionally, three others were arrested shortly after the burglaries:

  • Devante McNeil, 18, from Latta.
  • Jason Ray Goins, 22, from Latta.
  • A juvenile held at the Department of Juvenile Justice in Columbia.

They are all charged with burglary at this time.
