Elementary school treasurer wanted for embezzlement

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) Brunswick County Sheriff's Office Detectives are searching for a Leland community woman who is believed to be involved in an embezzlement incident.

Dana Leigh Brooks, Treasurer of Lincoln Primary School PTO, is wanted for twelve counts of embezzlement. Brooks is accused of embezzling over $5,000 from the PTO from February of 2011 to present date.

The funds varied from PTO fundraisers and local contributions, which were used for supporting projects for the students of Lincoln Primary School.

Warrants were issued Friday for Brooks' arrest. Her last known address is in the Leland community but she may possibly be in the Wilmington area.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dana Leigh Brooks should call the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office at 910-253-2777.
