GARLAND, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say six people have died in a house fire in eastern North Carolina. Sampson County deputies said in a news release that the fire was reported around 1 a.m. today. Authorities found five bodies in the rubble of the mobile home immediately, and a sixth victim was found a few hours later.

WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Three of the five officers fired by the Bald Head Department of Public Safety say they were treated unfairly for what were supposed to be private text messages. Termination letters say all five were fired for inappropriate electronic communications, while four of the officers were also accused of sexual harassment.

ASHEVILE, N.C. (AP) - Police say a 56-year-old woman has been charged with killing a Los Angeles man in a home in Asheville. Investigators say Sheryl Todd was charged yesterday with voluntary manslaughter after 69-year-old Walter Stevenson died several hours after the shooting at a home owned by Todd's mother.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Cumberland County authorities say an 18-month-old child has died after being found in a pool. The sheriff's office says the child was found yesterday in a pool in the Cander Woods neighborhood. The sheriff's office said emergency personnel tried live-saving measures without success.
