Free HIV testing offered in area

SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) – National HIV Testing Day is bringing about lots of free testing events throughout the area.

Testing will take place at the following locations:

  • June 11 – South Side Grocery Store located at 3055 S. State Hwy 41-51 in Hemingway from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those tested will received a free hotdog and drink at the event as well as a $10 gift card when they return for their results. Call 843-236-9000 for more information.
  • June 12 – St. John's AME Church located at 76 County Rd. S-22-432 in Pawley's Island from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Those tested will enjoy a free fish fry and Careteam will donate $5 to $10 per person who tests and returns for their results. Additionally, each person who returns will receive a $10 gift card to Walmart. For more information call 843-236-9000.
  • June 25 – Salem Missionary Baptist Church located at 1112 Freewoods Rd. in Myrtle Beach from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Those tested who return for their results will receive a $10 gift card to Walmart and Careteam will donate $5 to $10 to the church.
  • June 27 – 1403 Carver St. in Myrtle Beach from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Attendees will be able to receive free HIV testing, free blood pressure testing, free diabetes screening and free nutritional analysis. Those tested will receive a hotdog and drink, and will also receive a $10 gift card to Walmart when they return for their results. Free face painting will be available for children.

The Carver Street even will also conclude with a candlelight vigil from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
