Armed robbery at Bennettsville convenience store, suspect at large

BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Bennettsville Police need the public's help after a male suspect walked into the Sav-Way Convenience store at the intersection of Hwy 15 and 401 Bypass around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, jumped across the counter, grabbed the cashier around the neck and demanded cash.
The cashier told Police he believes the suspect had what appears to be knife at the time of the robbery. The suspect is described as 180-190 pounds, standing approximately 5'8" to 6'0" tall, wearing dark clothing and a mask.
The Suspect ran off with $759.00 from the register and fled on foot. Investigators contacted the Marlboro County Sheriff Office Bloodhound Team for assistance in attempting to track the subject but was unsuccessful in locating the man.
Investigation is ongoing and efforts are being made to obtain video footage from the store. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bennettsville Police Department at (843) 479-3620 or Marlboro County Central Dispatch at (843) 479-9999.
