MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCSC) -
The South Carolina Highway Patrol has charged a 24-year-old man with DUI following a three-vehicle wreck involving a school bus.
Authorities say William S. Alongi caused the accident in Berkeley County Monday afternoon.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Alongi was driving a Chevrolet pickup and tried to cut in between a Berkeley County school bus and a Ford Expedition on Old Whitesville Road just after 3 p.m.
Troopers say the pickup clipped the right rear of the school bus and then hit the Expedition before it ran off the road, struck a tree and overturned.
Troopers also say that none of the four students on the school bus or the driver of the Expedition sustained injuries.
Alongi's condition has not been provided. He was taken to MUSC.
