DILLON COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – The man killed following an accident involving an 18-wheeler along Interstate 95 in Dillon County Wednesday afternoon has been identified.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at the 197 northbound mile marker along Interstate 95 around 3 p.m.

The driver of a cabbage truck reportedly ran off the roadway and caught fire. The driver of that truck was killed as a result of the crash.

Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley has identified that driver as Jose Garcia, 44, of Kissimmee, FL. Grimsley said Garcia died from trauma sustained in the accident.

Grimsley had to obtain dental records before a positive identification could be made.

I-95 is open, however, traffic is moving slowly at this time.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a cause for this accident.
