HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Hwy 701 has reopened to all traffic Wednesday afternoon following a fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler in the Yauhanna area at the Horry - Georgetown County line early Monday morning.

The crash occurred around 8:10 a.m., according to Horry County Fire Rescue. South Carolina Department of Transportation conducted a survey of the bridge and determined it is safe for drivers, but approximately 65 feet of railing needed to be replaced and DHEC must certify that the bridge meets regulations before it could reopen.

According to the SCDOT, emergency repairs were made on the bridge.

A detour route from U.S. 701 in Horry County, was S-26-24 (Pee Dee Highway) to U.S. 378 to SC 41/SC 51 to SC 261 back to US 701, according to SCDOT.

WMBF News Reporter Kyle Grainger says the coroner arrived on the scene around 10:15 a.m. The victim is from McClellanville, SC, according to authorities.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler has identified the driver as Jack Mauigault, 38. Mauigault's body was transported to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center where an autopsy was performed Monday afternoon.

A cause of death has not yet been released and officials are currently waiting for toxicology reports to come in.

The truck driver who was killed in the crash was reportedly driving an 18-wheeler for a company out of Charleston County, but that company has not been named at this time.
