HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A walk-off home run is not an everyday occurrence on the baseball diamond; it's actually said to be one of the most thrilling moments in all of sports.
When the Coastal Carolina team did it not once, but twice on opening weekend, the Chants gave their fans a wild start to the 2011 season.
"It was one of those no-doubters, I knew when I hit it that it was going out, and it was one of the better feelings I've had on the baseball field," said Hayes Orton, who's walk-off blast beat Boston College in the season opener.
Hayes wasn't the only chant with a walk off on opening weekend, true freshman Tripp Martin repeated the feat during against Virginia Tech with a walk-off of his own.
"Like Hayes I was just ready to get to home plate and for the dog pile at home, it was just an awesome feeling to be able to do that for my team," said Martin.
While opening weekend was certainly unforgettable, both know its back to business with a long season ahead.
