PAWLEY'S ISLAND, SC (WMBF) – The Georgetown County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying and locating those responsible for using a forklift to steal an ATM machine Tuesday morning.

Russell Goodale, spokesman for the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded to the BB&T Bank located at 11403 Ocean Hwy in reference to an ATM alarm around 4:30 a.m.

The suspect is said to have been driving what appeared to be a white in color Dodge pick-up truck and used a forklift stolen from a construction site next door to the bank to lift and load the ATM.

The suspect then fled the area in an unknown direction of travel. Goodale said the ATM contained an undisclosed amount of cash.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office at 843-546-5102.
