Heather Biance joined the WMBF news team in September 2010 as the weekend morning Producer and Anchor as well as a video journalist during the week. Less than a year later, Heather is thrilled to join the WMBF News Today team, bringing you the news bright and early starting at 5 a.m. each weekday alongside Matthew Nordin.
After graduating from Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, she spent 3 years working for WCTV. She covered everything from crime, education and environmental issues, including the coastal counties in her area impacted by the Gulf Oil Spill.
Since middle school, telling people's stories has been her absolute passion. She helped launch her Middle School TV Production program and again when she moved up to high school. After shadowing a CNN reporter for a week (who was in her small hometown of Inverness covering the baseball legend Ted Williams' passing) it was then she knew news was her niche. She believes telling the stories that matter to people in the most unique way is what it's all about.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, being active outdoors, going to the beach, reading, dancing and cooking! If you have any great recipes, please send them her way!
- What can't you live without: My "smart" phone (I'm a little too attached really) living in a place with a lot of sunshine and my DVR because it's the ONLY way I get to watch television.
- Favorite music: I'm honestly can't list them all, but nothing is better to me than some great live music! I saw the band Phoenix in concert when I first moved to Myrtle Beach and they were even better than I could have ever imagined.
- What would you do if you didn't work in news? I honestly haven't figured that out yet! I don't think I could ever give up on writing and the creative aspect of my job. If I could find something that incorporated those two elements, then perhaps I'd consider it. For now, I'm happy where I am!
- Favorite travel destination: Italy. I've always wanted to go to my roots!
- 3 things you'd take with you if abandoned on a deserted island: A Swiss army knife, a survival guide book and some smoke signals. What can I say, I'm practical!
- Describe yourself in one word: Tenacious
- What characteristics make you unique? I'd like to think of myself as a giver. My parents taught me to be humble, yet confident and I laugh…. ALOT.
