Hartsville Chamber of Commerce raises reward to $18,500

Posted: Updated:

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) – The Hartsville Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating suspects responsible for a burglary and arson at the Jack-be-nimble child's clothing store Wednesday evening.

Chief Tim Kemp, spokesman for the Hartsville Police Department, said officers and firefighters with the Hartsville Fire Department responded to a 911 call for help along E. Carolina Avenue Wednesday. Upon arrival, officials discovered smoke coming from Jack-be-nimble.

Kemp said when officers were able to get inside the store, they found a fire as well as a person lying on the floor. After officers pulled the victim to safety, firefighters then arrived and were able to control the fire.

The victim was transported to an area hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Upon further investigation, officers say two black male suspects entered the store shortly after dark. They then robbed and assaulted the victim before setting the building on fire.

The Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce is now offering a $18,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible. That reward has been raised from the previous $10,000 they were offering.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hartsville Police Department at 843-383-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 843-667-8477.
