Little River, SC - LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) – Officers with the Horry County Police Department are investigating a bank robbery that occurred late Thursday morning in Little River, and believe it is possibly connected to another bank robbery.

Lt. Jamie Debari, spokesman for the HCPD, said the robbery occurred at the BB&T bank at 2496 Highway 9 in Little River around 10:45 a.m.

Sgt. Robert Kegler said the suspect is described as a white male, who was wearing a blue shirt with the words "Long Island" on it at the time of the incident and had a small, black handgun.

Debari said a suspect has been identified as Daniel Christopher Luberda, 29, of Socastee.

Around 8 p.m. Thursday night, Luberda's unoccupied vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Surfside Walmart.

On Dec. 8, HCPD responded to a report of an armed robbery at the BB&T bank on Highway 544 near CCU. Kegler said the suspect had a handgun and demanded money from the teller.

The suspect was described as a white male standing around 5'8".

HCPD searched for the suspect in the Myrtle Grove subdivision, but later called off the search.

Debari said they are investigating the possibility that the two crimes were committed by the same suspect. Arrest warrants have been issued for Luberda in connection to both robberies.

Anyone with information on Luberda or his whereabouts is asked to contact the Horry County Police Department at 843-915-8345, 843-248-1520, or 843-915-TIPS(8477) if they wish to remain anonymous.

Luberda is considered armed and dangerous.
