Nichols man gets 4 year sentence for manslaughter

GREEN SEA, SC (WMBF) The man charged with shooting a Green Sea woman in her home in 2010 will spend four years behind bars.

Horry County court records reveal that Sherman Evans pleaded guilty Wednesday to involuntary manslaughter in the 2010 death of 38-year-old Tara Gore.

Judge Benjamin Culbertson sentenced Evans to four years in prison and to pay court costs.

Horry County Police were called to the scene of the shooting at 4681 Long Branch Swamp Road around 2 a.m. to find Tara Gore had been shot and killed according to Horry County Coroner Robert Edge. 

Evans was arrested as the suspected shooter that same day and taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Since his sentencing, Evans has been transferred to the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
